Sell with a payment link
No website needed: create a link in the portal for a fixed amount, share it, and get paid through the VEX Pay hosted checkout.
How it works
A payment link is a VEX Pay checkout page for one fixed amount in USD. Your customer opens it on their phone, sees your business name, the description and the amount in USD and VES at your Bolívar rate (BCV or market), and pays with the methods your account accepts. The money goes to your own balance, net of your fee — the same as any other payment.
- Create the link
In the portal, open Payment links. Enter the amount in USD and what it is for (your customer sees this). Optionally add a private reference and an expiry date.
- Share it
Copy link to paste it in WhatsApp or social media, Share to use your phone share sheet, or QR code to show or print a code your customer scans with their camera.
- Get paid
When your customer pays, the link turns Paid, the payment appears on the Payments page, and your
payment.*webhooks fire as usual.
Link statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Waiting for payment. |
| Paid | Paid once. Each link accepts a single payment; anyone opening it afterwards sees that it was already paid. |
| Expired | Its expiry passed before anyone paid. It no longer accepts payments. |
| Cancelled | You cancelled it. It no longer accepts payments. A paid link cannot be cancelled. |
Your business profile
In the portal, Business profile sets how your business appears at the top of the payment page and on the receipt: your logo, business name, RIF, and an optional WhatsApp number and email. Buyers see them under Pagas a, followed by Estás pagando with the description and a breakdown of the amount, the rate (Tasa BCV or Tasa de mercado) and the total.
- Every field is optional. Without a profile the page shows your account name.
- Logos can be PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 2 MB; they are shown as a circle, so a square logo looks best.
- WhatsApp and email are public — buyers can tap them to contact you. Leave them empty if you prefer not to share them.
- Your test account uses the same profile as your live account, and you can set it up before going live.
Returning buyers pay in one tap
On the bolívar methods of the hosted checkout (Débito Inmediato and Pago Móvil) the phone comes first. When a buyer who paid any VEX Pay checkout before, and agreed to be remembered, types their phone, VEX Pay first sends a 6-digit code by WhatsApp to that phone: "Te enviamos un código por WhatsApp al 0414-•••4567". Nothing about the buyer is shown, and their saved details cannot be used, until the right code is entered. Then the page lists each bank they have paid from (up to 5) with the full cédula, name and bank, the most recent one filled into the form. They check it, switch account or edit, and pay with one tap. It works on payment links, product links and checkout sessions, embedded or not, with no change to your integration.
| When | What the buyer sees |
|---|---|
| A remembered phone on a new device | The code card: the 6-digit field, Verificar, Reenviar código (after 60 seconds) and Pagar sin código. Nothing else about the buyer. |
| After the right code | Every saved account in full, the selected one filled into editable fields, Quitar per account and No soy yo. This browser is trusted for that phone for 30 days. |
| A trusted device (code entered in the last 30 days, in this browser) | No code. The saved banks with the cédula masked as V-••••5678 and the name as Ana P., payable in one tap, plus Ver mis datos completos (asks for a code), Usar otros datos, Olvidar este dispositivo and No soy yo. |
| The phone is not on WhatsApp, or WhatsApp is down | A one-line notice and the normal form. |
| A phone nobody remembered | The normal form, as before. |
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Pay button | Pays from the selected account. Débito Inmediato still asks for the bank OTP; Pago Móvil still has to come from that phone. |
| Pagar sin código | Closes the code card and leaves the empty form. The payment does not use the saved details (it can still save new ones if the box is ticked). |
| Quitar | Removes that one saved bank. Removing the last one forgets the buyer. |
| Usar otros datos | Opens the fields empty. Whatever the buyer types is used; what they leave blank comes from the saved details. |
| Olvidar este dispositivo | This browser stops skipping the code for that phone. |
| No soy yo · Olvidar mis datos | Deletes the saved details and every trusted device at once. That phone is no longer recognized at any checkout. |
- Opt-in. The form has a Recordar mis datos para la próxima vez checkbox, ticked by default, with the full consent sentence printed under it: "Guardamos tu cédula, nombre y banco para que tu próximo pago con VEX Pay, en cualquier comercio, sea más rápido."
- What is stored. The phone, the cédula/RIF, the account holder name (Débito Inmediato only) and the bank code, saved only when a payment with the box ticked completes, so the values are ones a bank accepted. Each bank (and cédula) is its own saved account: paying again from it refreshes it, paying from a new bank adds one, and past 5 the least recently used is dropped.
- Across merchants. A buyer remembered at one business is recognized at every VEX Pay checkout in the same mode (live or test). Live and test details never mix. A trusted device is remembered per browser; on your site in an embedded checkout it can need its own code.
- Code limits. At most 3 codes per phone and 10 per buyer IP an hour, 60 seconds apart; a code lasts 10 minutes and allows 5 tries.
- Never shared with you. Saved details are not in your portal, your API reads or your webhooks; your
payment.*webhooks look exactly as before. - Forgetting. The buyer uses No soy yo, or unticks the box on their next payment (the details are deleted when it completes). VEX Pay support can also delete them on request, and details unused for 12 months (per saved bank) are deleted automatically.
- Card, USDT, USDC and COP do not use saved details, and payments created through the payments API never read or change them.
Who can use payment links
Payment links are available to seller accounts. Marketplace accounts collect on behalf of their merchants and do not see this page. A live account can create links once it is activated (see Going live); in test mode, links are payable only with test methods and move no real money.
